Description
Madly (original title: Follemente) is a 2025 Italian romantic comedy directed by Paolo Genovese. It stars Edoardo Leo and Pilar Fogliati, with Emanuela Fanelli, Claudio Santamaria, Marco Giallini, Maria Chiara Giannetta, Vittoria Puccini, Claudia Pandolfi, Rocco Papaleo and Maurizio Lastrico as the personalities inside their heads. Piero, a recently divorced 50-year-old teacher, and Lara, a 35-year-old furniture restorer, meet in a bar and set up a first date at her place. As the evening unfolds, each of them is steered by four squabbling personalities: Piero listens to the rational Professor, the romantic Romeo, the passionate Eros and the disillusioned Valium, while Lara is led by Alfa, Trilli, Scheggia and Giulietta. Awkward moments, slips of the tongue and mishaps follow as both try to find out whether this could be the start of something real. Madly released in Italian cinemas on 20 February 2025 and became the second highest-grossing film in Italy that year.
